get behind me, gaga.

LADY GAGA IS TAKING OVER MY LIFE!!

For a solid week now I have had a tormenting "ear worm" in the form of not one but TWO lady gaga songs. Not only can I not stand gaga, but these two songs that I once thought had merit are now driving me to insanity, as if I'm being punished for enjoying them! BAD GAGA! BAD!

I mostly just like writing "gaga" and being taken seriously.

Anyway, this ear worm thing has become problematic, and I believe it's what drives people mad. For awhile, every time I was driving, vacuuming, cleaning, or walking the dog all I could hear in my head was RAH RAH AH-AH-AHA, ROMA, ROME-AH-AH-AH.... Bad Romance, incidentally, is a super creepy song and I'm not even sure what it MEANS.

Alejandro is much more tolerable, and the only Lady Gaga song that I actively like(d), so I tried to use it as a Bad Romance drowning device. No such luck. Now both songs plague me! And the only cure is to listen to them often, and sample as many covers as possible. It's involuntary music obsession is what it is, and I don't like it one bit. I CERTAINLY don't like waking up with "you know that i love you boy, hot like mexico rejoice" oozing out of my brain like so much goo.

at this point, i've got to choose, nothin' to lose-- don't call my name, don't call my name, gaga. seriously, please.

edit: actually, this is one cover i find acceptable:

I was actually more surprised to see Eminem on your list than Lady Gaga, though that did take me aback too.

I think my favorite part of the video was his interjection: Now for those still doubting the artistic integrity of Lady Gaga..." oh, I still laugh every time.

Oh, I love Eminem, actually. Well, generally. He has alot of songs that I think are crap, and I hate how self-referential he can be, but I like his passion [he sounds so ANGRY all the time! which is kind of fantastic and powerful] and I think he's a good deal more talented than most of the other rappers. I just like his style, I guess. Try running to Lose Yourself or Love The Way You Lie sometime, it's great.

And I like a good pop song as much as everyone else... it just has to be GOOD pop (see: 90's) or highly guilty, pleasure-wise (see: most modern, overproduced vapidity...). Alejandro falls somewhere between those two.

Hahaha, I know, cracks me up. Also, he clarified some lyrics for me--- I always thought it was Vertical Stick rather than Vertigo schtick, which is at least more of a play on words. Anyway, I think he should do a bona-fide cover. I'd itune-it. Oh yeah, I just used "itune" as a verb.

I agree with you!
I love "Alejandro", and the other day I was thinking about the odd combination of "Bad Romance" and "Alejandro" stuck in my head. "Bad Romance" is the worst about getting stuck in my head. Even though I agree that her songwriting talent is not that strong, I still think that song has merit (beyond the ear bug thing). Obviously, it's about being willing to take a chance on someone, and saying that you accept the "ugly" and the "disease". And I love her voice for some reason. After I listen to any Lady Gaga, I get oddly hyper though I still don't care for "Poker Face". I keep thinking she's saying "Expletive Her Face".
I recently jumped on the Lady Gaga bandwagon. I fought it so hard, but, damnit, she's in my head!

I really don't care for gaga as a celebrity, i think she's annoying and I really don't think her voice is all that great, but I DO actually think she's a solid song-writer, she just doesn't really write my type of music.

But there's just something about Alejandro that I liiiiike, I think it's because it reminds me of 90's dance music, like Ace of Base. It's one of the few "new songs" i get happy to hear when it comes on the radio. yet i still can't dig the gaga! pokerface, telephone, and just dance are super annoying! agh! still on the fence about bad romance. maybe once it gets out of my head i'll like it more.
